Dr Vicki Vlaskalic BDSc; MDSc; DDS. World-Wide Pioneer, Invisalign System

Dr. Vlaskalic attended the University of Melbourne, Australia where she received both her Bachelor of Dental Science and Master of Dental Science in orthodontics. On graduation, Dr. Vlaskalic received a research award from the Australian Association of Orthodontists Foundation for Research and traveled to the United States. There she spent 2 years at UCLA as a research and teaching assistant, and a further 6 years at the Arthur Dugoni School of Dentistry, University of the Pacific in San Francisco. She obtained her Californian Dental License and became Assistant Professor and Director of the Predoctoral Orthodontic Program. Her research interests included root resorption and orthodontic treatment outcomes.
In 1997, Dr. Vlaskalic became co-investigator with Professor Robert Boyd in the feasibility of a new orthodontic appliance that would eventually become the Invisalign appliance. Together, they published the first article in the world on the Invisalign System in the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics in 2000 and are responsible for the initial teaching to orthodontists and dentists globally. During her 6 years at Pacific, Dr. Vlaskalic received many awards, including 3 teaching and research awards from the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation. She has presented abstracts and papers at prestigious meetings such as the IADR , AAO, WFO and has published widely in refereed journals. Since returning to Melbourne in 2002, Dr. Vlaskalic works in her boutique orthodontic specialty practice providing personal care to her patients, is a clinical instructor at the University of Melbourne Department of Orthodontics and continues to consult, lecture and teach world-wide.
